Taken on the Durango and Silverton railway in Colorado.

Silverton can be a nice place to visit. Taking this train is the best way to get there. US 550 is such a scary road over the Red Mountain Pass. Coal Bank Pass, between Silverton and Durango, isn't a lot better. The entire trip fro Ouray to Durango is narrow, winding and twisted. Especially on the Uncompahgre River Valley, between Ouray and Silverton. Very scary.

Yep, I prefer to not drive on mountain roads when I can avoid it. You'd think I'd get used to it. How many near death experiences can one take?

After numerous trips over US 12 between I-5 and Yakima, WA. and spending 8 months driving armor plated behemoths in Iraq, driving a Honda over US 550 failed to frighten me. I guess I had become desensitized to the mortal danger. I would still rather take the train anyway.
